Keeping up with the news

It’s another rainy day and there’s even a forecast for a possibility of snow tonight.  I’m up before the boys so I’m tuned in to the news.  While I’d like to believe that I’m keeping abreast of current events by tuning in to the morning news at the beginning of my day, I actually envy my mom who subscribes to Manila Bulletin and a tabloid or two but she reads and dissects the daily newspaper habitually.  I get the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal on my desk every weekday morning and I get headlines from the former in my blackberry and e-mail, but it is rare that I actually get to skim even the headlines.  So my best source for daily news is Fox 5 News.

Yes, it’s me again complaining about not being able to read enough.  The books are coming along just fine.  I’m getting on with  Breaking Dawn and I’m already trying to decide what I’m reading next.

With so much happening around us these days, and since I work in the financial services industry which is one of the key players and the industry that’s taking the biggest hits, it would be good to be reading more.  So when I get one of those news alerts on the blackberry, I try to click on the news.   Forget about Senator Stevens and his corruption, but those news alerts keep me “in the know”.  I still manage a peek into the Philippine Star and the Inquirer during my lunch hour, a habit I’ve kept the past couple of years.  News is news they say.. Time to get ready for another day here in the big apple.
